My frustration

Hi All: I am frustrated as I read about human capital.  At first I was offended by the term, but of course I had an assumption about what it meant.  I now understand that the investment in an employee is a form of capital or time and money invested growing a person in the company. Investing in education and training, etc.  For the past few years I have grown uneasy with how employees are treated at my company. Some say that the secretary at my work has a status that is a little higher then the binders because both the employee and the supplies are a cost to the company. Attorneys are an income/money maker for the company.  I suggested during a meeting with the head (when he asked what the company could do to "make it better), that an investment in education for the secretary is needed. Some form of tuition reimbursement would be great.  He said to me "why would we want to do this, when all you will do is get educated and leave?"  I didn't know what to say to such an ignorant statement.  Investing in human capital encourages loyalty and having an educated workforce is paramount in today's society.  I now have a name to what I want...investment in human capital.  I want to work for a company that invests in its people and I want to help make that happen.
